Please send us a small web project:

• connecting to a public WebService of your choice and displaying some data.( i.e.: http://www.amazon.com/webservices )
• connecting to Oracle, MySQL or PostgreSQL and displaying and updating a simple 2 to 3 column table.
• Bonus: A one way synchronization from WebService to DB.

The browser to test the Web project will be: IE and Firefox.

We recommend you use a J2EE Web project running on Tomcat 4.x or 5.x.
But this is only a suggestion.
You may choose any language capable of solving this exercise.

• A simple GUI project displaying an
  IP address ( i.e. '192.168.0.36' )
  in an textfield and a button converting the IP address first to
  integer ( i.e. 3232235556) then to
  hex ( i.e. C0A80024) and then the hex value to
  base64 ( i.e. QzBBODAwMjQ=)
  and then step by step back again.

We recommend you use the Borland Delphi IDE.
But this is only a suggestion.
You may choose any language and/or IDE capable of solving this exercise.

Please note that we look for the following qualities present in code:

• Clean and well documented source code.
• Shortest possible but most flexible algorithms.
• Redundant, false or intricate code will not be accepted !
• Proper exception handling.
• Following the standard naming and formatting conventions of the selected language.
